I was selected to receive a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal, representing the Brazilian music in Toronto. The ceremony was held at the Lula Lounge on Thursday, February 7, 2013.

“As the Member of Parliament for Davenport, I am writing to congratulate you for being selected to receive a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal. You have distinguished yourself in our community through your phenomenal accomplishments as a singer, composer and leader in the ever growing Latino music community in Toronto.

The jubilee medal was not only intended to commemorate the Queen’s 60 years of service to Canada, but also to honour exceptional Canadians like you for your contribution to your community and country. I have the distinct honour of awarding Queen’s Jubilee medals to Davenport residents whose civic energy and artistic talents animate our city’s vibrant organizations and associations. I am also pleased to award medals to our future community leaders: outstanding secondary school students in our riding who have demonstrated academic excellence and civic engagement through volunteerism. And, I take great pleasure in honouring some of the many Davenport seniors who demonstrate their compassionate commitment to improving our community by enlivening the spaces where they live and work.”
