Tio Chorinho + Luanda Jones (Nov 17th)

Carinhoso (Pixinguinha / Braguinha)
Tio Chorinho + Luanda Jones (Special Guest). Recorded at Lula Lounge on Nov 17th, 2011.
“Known popularly as the New Orleans Jazz of Brazil choro is the wellspring of all modern Brazilian music, from samba to bossa nova. Choro originated in Rio de Janeiro in the late 19th century as a unique amalgam of European musical forms, such as the waltz and polka, with the African and indigenous musical influences of Brazil. Its leading early proponents include some of the most influential Brazilian composers and instrumentalists of all time, including Ernesto Nazareth, Pixinguinha, and the great mandolin master Jacob do Bandolim. Lyrical melodies, exciting improvisations, intoxicating rhythms and dizzying virtuosity define the choro style.”
