Internationally-acclaimed Brazilian jazz pianist Benjamim Taubkin joins us direct from Sao Paulo, Brazil to perform a solo concert. Brazilian Canadian composer and vocalist Luanda Jones received rave reviews for her 2009 release Aquarela. Followed by an Uma Nota After party with Lido Pimienta, DJ General Eclectic and visuals by aluCine.
Benjamim Taubkin
The show features Taubkin’s own compositions alongside interpretations of great Brazilian and international composers and is based on work originally recorded live at New York’s renowned Fazioli Salon. A versatile artist and consummate collaborator, Taubkin has worked with such prestigious artists as Rafael Rabello, Paulo Moura, Joao Bos…co and The Brazilian Jazz Symphony Orchestra.
Luanda Jones Quartet
Brazilian Canadian composer and vocalist Luanda Jones received rave reviews for her 2009 release Aquarela. A captivating but subtle performer, Luanda is a unique voice on the Canadian jazz landscape, blending samba, bossa nova, funk and jazz. Jones will perform some new material and will be joined by our special guest Benjamim Taubkin, marking the first time the pair have worked together.

Uma Nota After Party: In collaboration with Dos Mundos Arts and Media and aluCine, Colombian-born vocalist, visual artist and Bridges series curator Lido Pimienta joins Uma Nota DJs laying down Afro-Brazilian, funk and Latin grooves.
This evening is co-presented with Tridha Arts Association, Dos Mundos Arts and Media, Uma Nota, aluCine and Amnesty International
